A King may move a man, a father may claim a son, but remember that even when those who move you be Kings, or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus." Or that, "Virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.

Mosiah 4:30

Mosiah 4:30 "But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not."
Alma baptized Helam at the waters of Mormon
The following is an extract from:

  • Who Wrote the Book of Mosiah?

The books in the Book of Mormon that came from the small plates of Nephi (1 Nephi–Omni) were not abridged by Mormon. He placed those plates, without any changes, with his abridgment of the large plates. Beginning with the book of Mosiah, we are reading Mormon’s abridgment of the large plates of Nephi. The book of Mosiah is named for the king and prophet Mosiah who was the son of King Benjamin and the grandson of King Mosiah I, whom you read about in the book of Omni.
  • What Can You Find in This Book?

In Mosiah you will read about great heroes, such as King Benjamin, King Mosiah II, Abinadi, and Alma the Elder. You will also find accounts of great villains, such as King Noah and Amulon. Most importantly, you will find the gospel of Jesus Christ explained in great sermons and illustrated in fascinating stories. The book of Mosiah begins about 130 B.C. and ends about 91 B.C. It is not, however, one continuous story. In his abridgment, Mormon wove together the accounts of three related groups of Nephites:
  • The Nephites in Zarahemla (Mosiah 1–8; 25–29)
  • The Nephites who followed Zeniff back to the land of Nephi (Mosiah 9–22)
  • Alma the Elder and his group of converts (Mosiah 23–24)

Death is the road to awe

The Fountain | "Death is the road to awe", Clinton Darryl "Clint" Mansell, Nonesuch Records (2006). Mansell's composition for The Fountain was nominated for Best Original Score at the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards. This is my most fav instrumentals of all times...

Genesis 3:24 (NIV)

24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Quote from The Fountain (2006):
Izzi: This is an actual Mayan book. It explains the Creation myth. You see that's first father. He's the very first human.
Tom Creo
: Hum. Is he dead?
Izzi
: He sacrificed himself to make the world.
[pause]
Izzi
: That's the tree of life bursting out of his stomach.
Tom Creo
: Hey come.
Izzi
: Listen. His body became the trees' roots. They spread and formed the earth. His soul became the branches rising up forming the sky. All the remained is first father's head. His children hung in in the heavens creating Xibalba.
Tom Creo
: Xibalba. The star, eh,
[corrects himself]
Tom Creo
: nebula
Izzi
: So what do you think?
Izzi
: About?
Izzi
: That idea. Death as an act of creation.

"The Fountain's theme of fear of death is "a movement from darkness into light, from black to white" that traces the journey of a man scared of death and moving toward it. The film begins with a paraphrase of Genesis 3:24, the Biblical passage that reflects the The Fall of Man. Hugh Jackman emphasized the importance of the Fall in the film: "The moment Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, humans started to experience life as we all experience it now, which is life and death, poor and wealthy, pain and pleasure, good and evil. We live in a world of duality. Husband, wife, we relate everything. And much of our lives are spent not wanting to die, be poor, experience pain. It's what the movie's about." Aronofsky also interpreted the story of Genesis as the definition of mortality for humanity. He inquired of the Fall, "If they had drank from the Tree of Life [instead of the Tree of Knowledge] what would have separated them from their maker? So what makes us human is actually death. It's what makes us special." [wikipedia]"

The Cross is represented as the Tree of Life

Genesis 3:1-24 describes Adam & Eve's utilizing free will to disobey God and choose to partake from the Tree of Knowledge which resulted in self awareness. This new awareness separated them spiritually from God and caused a spiritual death. Since they could no longer walk with God as equals they were banished from the Garden to experience mortality or physical death thereby becoming human. Lastly God barred their way back to the Garden physically separating them from potentially also partaking from the Tree of Life. If the Tree of Life represents the way back to God or more definitively Jesus and his Church, then one could surmise that only through death and rebirth can we truly gain eternal life... But here's the rub- Adam & Eve in the garden choose Knowledge over Life. Humanity was purposefully lost from salvation until the tree- the word of God- became flesh again. Humanity which turned their back from the Tree of Life in the Garden has to face that original choice once again... We were set free on the road to set our own path without divine determination. And in choosing correctly this time will gain salvation and walk once more with God. But to do so we must exercise free choice and turn away from ourselves- from our natural instincts- towards something more...

Where was the Temple Mount?

Rock Moriah - the Foundation rock
 Where was the Temple Mount?
- reference theories from the Net for further study -
Rock Moriah, the Foundation rock, at the Temple Mount under the Dome of the Rock in the holy city of  Jerusalem, Israel(photo corrected from achieve c.1900-1920). "According to the sages of the Talmud it was from this rock that the world was created, itself being the first part of the Earth to come into existence. In the words of the Zohar: “The world was not created until God took a stone called Even haShetiya and threw it into the depths where it was fixed from above till below, and from it the world expanded. It is the centre point of the world and on this spot stood the Holy of Holies”. According to the Talmud, it was close to here, on the site of the altar, that God gathered the earth that was formed into Adam. It was on this rock that Adam- and later Cain, Abel, and Noah- offered sacrifices to God. Jewish sources identify this rock as the place mentioned in the Bible where Abraham fulfilled God's test to see if he would be willing to sacrifice his son Isaac. The mountain is identified as Moriah in Genesis 22. It is also identified as the rock upon which Jacob dreamt about angels ascending and descending on a ladder and consequently consecrating and offering a sacrifice upon."~ wikipedia

"Because of our sins we were exiled from our country and banished from our land. We cannot go up as pilgrims to worship Thee, to perform our duties in Thy chosen house, the great and Holy Temple which was called by Thy name, on account of the hand that was let loose on Thy sanctuary. May it be Thy will, Lord our God and God of our fathers, merciful King, in Thy abundant love again to have mercy on us and on Thy sanctuary; rebuild it speedily and magnify its glory."~ The Jewish Prayer Book

"As the navel is set in the centre of the human body,
so is the land of Israel the navel of the world...
situated in the centre of the world,
and Jerusalem in the centre of the land of Israel,
and the sanctuary in the centre of Jerusalem,
and the holy place in the centre of the sanctuary,
and the ark in the centre of the holy place,
and the foundation stone before the holy place,
because from it the world was founded."

Hospitaller

I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of God. I have seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What God desires is here [points to head]... and here [points to heart]... and what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man - or not.
